What is The Bourbon Zone?

The Bourbon Zone is a site committed to all things bourbon. We believe bourbon is more than just a wonderfully tasteful spirit, but it is community. Bourbon is not designed to be drunk quickly or by the shot, it is meant to be sipped and enjoyed. Take in the details, the moment and it brings people together as it is meant to be shared with friends.

We are passionate about bourbon’s great history and the many tasting notes each sip or smell can bring. This has led us in the pursuit to create and craft the best premium bourbon based cocktails.Hope you enjoy!

We don’t rely on the thoughts and opinions of just one person. Having contributors with different perspectives and opinions really help the flow of Bourbon information. During our tastings and gatherings we’ve really enjoyed the feedback of everyone. Every pallet will pick out different smells and flavors and we respect that. This blog may differ from others out there for those reasons. We just really love bourbon and people. This is The Bourbon Zone!

Bourbon 101

“All Bourbon is Whiskey, but not all Whiskey is Bourbon.”

What makes Whiskey a Bourbon? Bourbon is distilled from a very important ingredient; corn. It must be made from at least 51% corn in order to be considered bourbon. It also must be made in the US, stored in new charred oak barrels for a minimum of 2 years, and have nothing added except Kentucky’s pure limestone filtered water. Most bourbon is made in Kentucky or what I like to refer as “The Motherland.”
