- Aroma: Maple syrup, Oak, Rich currants
- Taste: Vanilla, Spices, Leather, Charred Oak
- Finish: Long, Lingering sweetness, Medium Charred Oak.
About the bottle:
This Four Roses Single Barrel bourbon is a classic for me. I really enjoy its smooth delicate spicy notes. The oak and leather notes are luxurious. The long and lingering finish is spectacular. If this is a bottle you haven’t tried yet, then I would definitely suggest you pick one up or go to your local bourbon bar to taste it. This should be high on the list of your next bourbon to try. Another great aspect of this single barrel bourbon is that it is available all the time and not on any allocated bottles list. Great bourbon and easy to find is a win for me! Cheers!
Four Roses and Romance:
When it comes to romance, Bourbon is no stranger. Four Roses Bourbon specifically is reminiscent of love and romance. As the story goes, the founder Paul Jones Jr. became quite taken by the beauty of a Southern belle. Because of this he sent a proposal to her, and she replied that if her answer were “Yes,” she would wear a corsage of roses on her gown to the upcoming grand ball. Mr. Jones waited for her answer excitedly on that night of the grand ball. Then, when she arrived, there on her beautiful gown she wore a corsage of four red roses. After that, Paul Jones would give his bourbon the name “Four Roses” as a symbol of his devout passion for his lovely belle. Subsequently that passion was thereafter transferred to making his beloved Four Roses Bourbon.
Four Roses has been associated with love and romance from the beginning, including being immortalized In the classic 1930’s picture of the sailor kissing the nurse in Time Square. For example look to the top center of the photo where you will see a vintage four roses billboard in the background.
