About the Distillery:
The Distillery is located in Danville, Kentucky with Co-Founder’s Shane Baker and Pat Heist. Shane’s family has a long history of distilling bourbon dating back to the 1940’s where his grandparents worked at Stitzel-Weller. With more than 50 years of family in the industry I think its safe to say he has learned a few things about distilling.
About the bottle:
This specific Wilderness Trail Bourbon is a single barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It’s called “Beef & Leaf” because it is a private barrel selected by Bern’s Steakhouse “Beef” & Davidoff of Geneva in Tampa “Leaf”.
Review:
This Bourbon is extremely smooth and full of flavor with a viscus mouth feel. You are greeted with caramel, vanilla, and crème brulee notes. There is also plenty of oak for all the bourbon lovers out there. For me this is notably sweet bourbon with the caramel, brown sugars, and even some sarsaparilla coming through on the palate. If you enjoy a big bold bourbon you will be extremely pleased with this one. I will definitely be on the lookout for future releases from this distillery.
